According to The Tech Herald Microsoft is not done with Bungie and their flagship XBox video game franchise “Halo,” which includes at least 3 single-player titles and a recent foray into real-time strategy games. Recently it was announced at ComicCon in San Diego that they intend to release not only a Halo anime mini-series, but there are also two new titles coming to the video game franchise. Halo Waypoint will be an X-Box live “hub” for all things Halo-related and will offer additional content and community rankings and interactions (the things Live does already).
Is this franchise dead? Can much more enjoyment really be gleaned out of this franchise? I think so. You never get tired of new ways to frag people – Microsoft just needs more innovation with this game and it will continue to be awesome for FPS gamers. It’s the only XBox-only first-party title I really enjoy. I haven’t played the RTS game, but if they release more FPS games in the series, I’ll gladly rent it and play it on a friend’s box.
Let us know what you think of Halo in the comments!
Microsoft will keep milking it as long as they can 🙂
Halo: Reach will be out next year and HALO: ODST will be out later this fall which are the two actual games Bungie is putting out. After that, a new studio called 343 Industries will take over the franchise and Bungie will work on a new IP not related at all to Halo (they are sick of working on Halo games I think).
