I was recently sent an Eye-Fi to keep and review here on my blog. Even though I was hospitalized recently, I was able to spend some time with it today with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3-K digital camera and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.
One of my biggest problems is unless I immediately upload my pics from my Blackberry, my photos never get posted online. I’m too lazy. First I have to find my cable. Then I have to hook up my camera to my computer. Then I have to login to the site and use an uploader to do about 10 photos at a time.
The Eye-Fi takes a lot of the hassle out of getting your photos online. Especially if you have relatives or friends who are less tech savvy, the Eye-Fi can be a “set it and forget it” gadget that will help them get their photos and videos online quick. It’s got 4 gb of storage so you shouldn’t have a problem with space. All you need is an SDHC compatible camera and a wireless router.
It comes with a USB card reader so you can set it up with your home network first. Once you set it up, it asks you to create an account with Eye-Fi and optionally set it up with your Facebook, Flickr, or other photo and video sharing site. Then, it asks you to put it in your camera and leave your camera on. When you take a photo, within a few minutes – it shows your photo uploaded! You should also see the photo uploaded on the sites you have configured to share. When I setup my Facebook account, it let me set the privacy so only my family could see the photos I upload with it. You can set it however you want, depending on the site.
The Eye-Fi also effortlessly backs up photos to your computer in organized folders by date, leaving you free to enjoy life and live it, instead of feeling like your leisure time is a lot of work. Just turn your camera on with the Eye-Fi loaded and the Wi-Fi enabled SDHC card does its job, provided you have setup your wireless router as a connection in the Eye-Fi setup process.

Hmmmm… I tweeted, but you have the date of November 13. Am I too late to enter?
You're right, that's my bad. I corrected the date to December 13th. No more late night posts for me 🙂

This is a great card! I need to get one. I'm also tired of hooking up the cable from the computer to the camera. Thats if i find the right cable for it. So many cables today have such small ends that i get them mixed up. Between phones, cameras and other small usb cables, it can be a pain to find the right one. With this card at least finding the camera cable will be a thing of the past. Makes things alot easier.
Congrats!
